         2009-2010 AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Are you READY for some after school FUN???

Each after school program’s coach/leader will have more information to share with you about the particular activity, but here’s a place to start with your planning. Please pay particular attention to the details and fees for each activity.

 1.        Each activity requires a participation form which can be located in the HandS file drawers, by emailing me or online.    Your child will not be able to participate without the form and/or fee and will be sent to aftercare until the form and the fee are turned in.  Some activities require a nominal fee that helps to underwrite expenses of the activity.  We are very conscientious to keep the fees very low and affordable and you will find them very reasonable if you compare similar activities offered outside of FAS

2.       The after school programs are open to all FAS students and FSDAC church members including students who attend public school and homeschoolers. The programs are dependent on the availability of volunteer coaches/leaders and the number student participants.  From year to year, some programs may not be offered due to these circumstances.

 3.       We applaud ALL of our after school parent volunteers for their gifts of time.  Please be respectful of their dedicated but limited time.  All after school activities have a specific beginning and ending time.  If you are unable to pick up your child by then, they will be waiting for you in aftercare.  If your child is ill or will not be able to make practices or meetings, please be courteous and call or email the coach/leader to let them know.

 4.       Each after school activity is designed for a specific age group, if you have children in other age groups not participating in the activity; they need to be in the company of an adult and/or parent during that time. In other words, older siblings may not sit and watch younger siblings’ activities without a parent present and vice versa. If no parent is present, they will be enrolled in the aftercare program.  All fees apply according to the school handbook.

ATHLETICS

The lessons learned in the classroom, at home and through church can be put into practice through athletics.  They teach valuable life lessons and allow the student to develop and use his or her God given ability to glorify God.  Because of the nature of athletics, there is sometimes competition which is surrounded by pressure, the athlete may be tested and the true character made known.  As a result, the opportunity for character growth is available through competition.  The FAS athletic programs strive to promote healthy competition and to embody the highest ideals of sportmanship and respect.  As Christians, we are commanded by Scripture always to do our best.  As believers, we are not to waste the talent God has given us by giving anything less than total commitment, through participation, and maximum effort.  We believe we should STRIVE to be THE best at what we do.  Being the best at anything, whether it be academics or athletics is a worthy and admirable goal of any Christian.  Becoming THE best may not always be the result of our athletic program; however, doing OUR best must be!
